About Ear Look after Your Cats
Good ear care is very important on your cat's health, especially as she ages. Check her ears at least one time per week, and clean them as needed in order to avoid ear mites, allergies, and bacterial, fungal and candidiasis from establishing itself.
To discover the inner portion of your cat's ear, retain the tip between your thumb and forefinger and roll it gently toward the back of her head. Your skin must be pink or flesh colored and will look healthy and clean, without any red or sore looking patches.
Some light brown wax is typical, but a heavy discharge (especially black, red, or green yellow) indicates an issue. If the ears look healthy as well as your cat shows no warning signs of discomfort round her ears or head, gently wipe away any excess wax which has a pad soaked in ear cleanser.
Ear problems are tough to diagnose, and treating to the wrong type of infection will not help and can worsen, therefore if your cat's ears look red, sore, or dirty, or if perhaps she scratches her ears or shakes her head a lot, call at your vet.
Older cats often lose some or their hearing, but hearing difficulties is not always feasible for us to detect. If your cat won't reply to sounds that utilized to attract or startle her, chance are she's hard of hearing.
Common signs and symptoms of dental disease include smelly breath, difficulty eating or drinking, drooling and unexplained weight reduction. An ageing cat could have trouble keeping her claws trimmed, so regular nail care will assist you to keep her feet healthy.
